A sharp original photo is the best starting point for your acrylic portrait. Check these details before approving your design.
Use the original image
Upload JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or HEIF. HEIC/HEIF files up to 20 MB are converted automatically. If a photo cannot be converted, export it as a JPG or contact us for help. Choose the original from your camera or phone whenever possible; screenshots, messaging apps, and social-media downloads can reduce detail.
Choose the right shape for your photo
Every acrylic print (family, pet, business, art) and Restored Photo on Acrylic come in the same 15 sizes (width × height): landscape 12 × 8, 20 × 16, 36 × 24, 48 × 36, and 60 × 40 inches; portrait 8 × 12, 16 × 20, 24 × 36, 36 × 48, and 40 × 60 inches; and square 12 × 12, 16 × 16, 20 × 20, 30 × 30, and 40 × 40 inches. If a vertical photo loses important details in the crop, or you need a different size, ask us about your photo before ordering. Both products offer square, landscape, and portrait sizes, so pick the shape that matches your photo.
Check focus and lighting
Look closely at faces and eyes in the original image. Avoid motion blur, very dark faces, or bright areas with missing detail. A larger file is not necessarily sharper, and increasing its dimensions cannot restore detail that was never captured.
Choose detail to suit your print size
Larger prints and heavier zoom need more source detail. Inspect the original at full size, then review your crop in the larger final preview. A small phone preview can hide softness that becomes visible in a large print. If you are unsure, ask us before ordering.
Give your lettering room
Choose an area that leaves faces unobstructed. Try contrasting lettering colors, adjust the title, phrase, and message sizes separately, and review longer names for crowding. Improve text contrast adds optional shading that will be printed. Leave every wording field blank if you prefer no lettering.
Check the corners
Keep important details away from the edge, especially if you select rounded corners or standoffs. Hardware and corner effects illustrate the physical finish; they are not printed into your artwork file.
Before you approve
- Everyone you want is inside the crop.
- Names, dates, and spelling are correct.
- Lettering is readable and does not cover important details.
- Any contrast shading looks the way you want.
- Your size, corner style, and standoff selection are correct.

If you request optional photo enhancement, we enhance your photo for you before printing—no approval step needed. For Restored Photo on Acrylic, place your order first; we then email your restored photo, crop, and lettering for approval. You can request changes before approving. Custom Acrylic Print orders, with or without enhancement, use the website-approved layout and do not include a separate emailed proof.
Free photo enhancement for blurry or older photos
Have a favorite photo that looks a little blurry or soft? Photo enhancement is available at no extra charge with your acrylic portrait order. We improve clarity where possible while aiming for a natural look. Results depend on the original photo quality; not every image can be restored.
If you request free photo enhancement, the website preview approves your crop, layout, and text. We’ll enhance your photo for you before printing. For orders without enhancement, your website-approved artwork is used for printing.
